I have heard about google panda update, but never heard of Google Diversity Update? Is it a new algorithm?
Last week Google released an update that "improves the diversity of search results in terms of different domains returned." and that is called "Google Diversity Update". This update isn’t really so good for big authority sites but it could be a huge victory for the little guy as they will now have a better chance of ranking high on the SERP.
Matt Cutts tweeted on last Friday about Google Diversity Update. This time Google seems more specific with the name. For example if 'James Furniture' is searched, all the results come up having James & furniture. See the image.
From different aspects of updating your website, such as blogs, advertising, bookmarks, BBS, social network, these are the diversity of Google promotion.
Some SERPs were showing results from the SAME domain. The update tried to rectify that. It was a very minor update.
hello, kindly read this blog below mention, you can easily understand what is diversity update? seroundtable.com/google-search-diversity-15708
Google Diversity Update is the change in the Search results the way they look. Now one can see everything which relates to the search more clearly.
Hello Maria Google releases an update that improves the diversity of search results in terms of different domains returned. The diversity update is starting to really have an impact on url and possibily to the extent of being domain driven.
That is a absolutely new information for me.I have heard about panda and penguin already but now google has released diversity update . Thanks for sharing an amazing information.
Seems like such information could come in handy. The update benefits those who work along the niche markets and targeted regions. Am i right?
It was a very minor update. If you weren't ranking highly before the update, nothing much will change for you on this update.
hi Mariabrean, Good question. The Google diversity update is another tweak Google has made to its algorithm. According to Matt Cutts's recent Twitter post, it "improves the diversity of search results returned in terms of different domain names." So, instead of having the same site show up three or four times in search results, there will be different sites listed. This is good news in terms of page rank for smaller businesses. WebPro News covered Cutts's tweet in this Blog post- http://www.webpronews.com/some-webm...e-actually-improving-domain-diversity-2012-09. The following is an excerpt that talks about the potential impact of this new update. "On Friday, Google’s Matt Cutts tweeted about a new update to Google’s algorithm, which he said, 'improves the diversity of search results in terms of different domains returned.' Most can probably agree that such an update would be helpful to users and webmasters alike (apart from those lucky enough to be dominating the SERPs). One WebProNews reader commented, 'I think this is a great idea. I have no idea how many times I have seen a certain domain show up 3-4 different times in the top 5 pages. The first page is really the only one that matters anyways. But this will enable more people to rank for harder keywords. Well hopefully at least." For a different perspective, see Search Engine Land's article where they tested this out on September 14th and found their results showed no improvement in domain diversity. I see that result couple of days ago... every time I I use 100 search I see all results from same domain.
