A forum is a collection of other forums, which are categories for online discussion of topics. Forums contain threads (forum jargon for topics) which are how topics are presented. Forums generally have a specific theme to them, and the forums and sub-forums (forum within a forum, AKA a more specific forum within that forum) are the categories of that theme.
