What exactly is "~" used for in Google search?

    According to Google Cheat Sheet

    "~auto loan"

will display loan info for both the word auto and its synonyms: truck, car etc.

Now when I search for "~hut" , I get Pizza Hut as first result.

Also Dominoes Pizza is the second result and Papa John's Pizza is the third :D

Is this a sign of some kind of "latent semantic indexing" used - Google found "Hut" used very often with "Pizza" and so thinks both words are related ????

    Any Thoughts?

Yes, it is used for Latent Semantic Indexing, and has been implemented for quite some time now.

is there a link or tutorial to all of the google search short cuts?

another interesting one that I learned was "search word site: domain.com" which searches for the search word limited to the specified domain which I thought was rather cool

    anyone got a link?
