External = Links from your website that point to other website/s.

Internal = Links that point to your site.

Quality Internal links will help improve search engine rankings.

External links could benefit your visitors.

    Thanks Brian

mmmmmmmmm. that's a bit incorrect, i guess it may differ from person to person.

external links are links that are pointing to your website from external websites
internal links are links within your own website that point to your own pages

External link - your site have a LINK point with another site
Internal LInk - link in your site (point from post to post, page to post, post to page in your site)

External links on YOUR website can be helpful to visitors, but you should keep them to a minimal, and directly relevant to your site.

    Thanks Brian

External links are links from your site to another site, that are Do Follow.

Internal links are from your site to your site. Like a navigation bar.

Some people will tell you that you should link to external sources in order to build up the love Google shows you (as Google relies on do-follow links from trusted sources as part of their Algo), other people will tell you that you should keep external links to a minimum to ensure that maximum page rank juice passes between your own internal pages. You'll have to experiment to see what works best for your situation.
