Yes it does but flippa is aware of the tricks a few are doing and they mentioned to report the ripoff directory sites when they appear in the listings to them so that they can take appropriate action to alert potential buyers of the possible consequences and or cancel there listings. If you do list a directory for sale make sure you tell them its NOT dropped domain in sale thread so as to make webmasters aware as well. Agreed you should let them know everything about its strong points which helps sell the directory thx M1
Definitely! However. I don't think Nima's directory runs on a dropped domain Most high profile buyers these days are smart enough not fall for sales description. They do their own research which I believe is a positive thing for the reselling industry.
lol yes i know it isnt.... But there is always that newbie that is wanting to invest and isnt aware of the tricks and why i said that... thx M1
As a side note, having worked on lili, and seeing that it was transferred over to you alistair, I will maintain the support for any works done on lili, being that we have worked together on several other projects. Usually once a directory is transferred out of the original owners hands whom I worked with, the support ends, unless I have worked with that new owner before, as then I will continue my support. R
Rob, even though I do like Lili I think Nima is mistaken...I do not own Lili nor was it transferred to me at any point in the past. Just wanted to clear the confusion. When I said 'Lili is nice too', I meant I like it as directory. However, you've always been a great support to me and to many around here and I thank you for that
Nice discussion going here… while talking about directory - if you build a directory and target to get revenue from, you must have promote is in a very strong manner. Build a directory and without promoting if you think you will get good money is just a dream only. Thousands of directories available on web, but hundreds out of it only are perfect and earning good amount of money monthly. While selling such well promoted directory will surly get xx, xxx amount or more then that. apart from directory, if you have good concept + good promotion skills you will get money in multiplication that’s for sure. -zaaylo
so i am happy that the sale for Bam (in PMs) didnt go through. I have planned to keep it and make it even better. 6 months from now I'll bring this thread up again and brag about it
interestingly enough someone gave me a red repp calling me a scammer!!!! why not have the guts to sign your name?
Its like a fine wine in that it gets better with time... and more submits Mine have finally come back from hell ... and ill keep them a few year more thx M1
Nice talk. My opinion - it's hard to say, but I think a good directory means more than some x factor. It means stability which sells good. It means age which also sell good. It means quality which sells best. So, depending on the directory, the x (monthly revenue) factor varies from 0X, and I think you can get for some 100x or more.
@Nima You should check this sticky thread "The "YOU should NOT start a web directory" List" from Directories section. If your directory is not (let's say) 1.5-2 years old minimum and you want to sell for any reason don't expect more value than the cost to register a .com domain. Selling a directory it's not something that should happen such as when selling a normal website. The work required to make a good web directory it is simply not possible to happen more quickest than the timeline mentioned above. If you really have a good reason for selling and it's not just "an appraisal lookup" then there are very a lot of factors involved to value a web directory. Just some factors are: age, quality, traffic, listings and others but not lastly owner reputation. I will like to add that it's also important who the buyer is, if sold to a "quick buck crew guy" it means you are a QBCG and any value that web directory might have it's about to be null.
