As far as traffic I think the best thing you can do is SEO. Either learn it yourself (Google: free seo ebook) or hire someone to do it. Don't pay more than $1,000/month,

 

True, and neither do I but don't forget the majority of internet users aren't as tech savvy as you and I.

 

adsense is where the money's at if you build your business right, set up correctly and you'll get hella lots of clicks!

I run an online art art directory affiliated with allposters, cj and adsense, I use reciprocal links to other art sites and rank 1 out of 10 with google,
the good thing about allposters is it now pays out via paypal and cj goes straight into my bank account,

content specific sites seem to do better with adsense I have found

I do mainly affiliate work. Clickbank is destroying my sales recently though, i have no idea what is going on.

I freelance articles and am currently working on setting up a new site that will hold ads. I can't use Adsense though because I got banned years ago when I was stupid and didn't realize that when other people in my household clicked on my ads (trying to be helpful), Adsense would see that as well as my participation in sites like BlogExplosion as "click fraud." The new site will hold Amazon ads and perhaps BlogHer ads (obviously it will be a blog set up).
