I wonder what this "dynamic dns" is and what advantages it could have to a webmaster. I googled it but to be honest it was too complecated for me. I am only interested in what it can do for me not technical issues.
It's usually for connections behind an ISP where the IP changes. You run an app that monitors the connection or runs in your router. When you get an IP, the app tells the Dynamic DNS your new ip and the domain name works. dyndns.org has good explainations.
Thanks I guess I have got it. It is useful when I have my own host at home and ISP may change the IP. Is that right? So I don't think it is much use to me.
Yes, it's useful if you are hosting a server from your own home, or you need to get access into your system remotely. If you are looking for providers, check out dyndns.com and no-ip.com . Otherwise, if you're just using your home computer to browse the web and send emails... possibly, upload website updates to a remote server... then you probably won't need a dynamic ip resolution service.
