    Hey!

What is domain parking and how can you make money from it? I saw a post telling someone they should park the domain and make money rather than sell it.

    What is that about?

Domain parking is a service where the company who parks your domains serves pages on them which are generally loaded with adverts. The advertisers then pay them based on clicks or views, and you get a certain amount of the cash.

There are other uses for domain parking where instead of just serving general advertisements, offers to sell the domain are served up, or traffic is redirected to another site.

I'm not an expert on it but would assume that the income from this is generally pretty low unless you have a really excellent domain name that naturally draws a large amount of traffic, or you have a very large amount of domains.

Domain Parking lets you make money on unused domains. I also have a site - at ParkQuick.com - that has extensive reviews of these domain parking services.

Domain parking works best if u have a good generic or easily remembered
name or a typo(wrongly spelled domain name e.g. mgail, gogle etc.,).
domainers(those who earn full time from domain name buying, selling parking)
make a good amt of money. But it takes a long time to acquire this
skill. check www.namepros.com(not an affiliate ).
You could spend some time at our own forum in the domain site section
Revenue from clicks is shared among the parking site and the site owner.

I park my domains at http://www.sedo.com. While earnings are not really a fortune, parking my domains at Sedo has two advantages:

    1) When registering, you have a nameserver and a "content page" where to point your domain to. So your domain shows something until your content is written.

    2) You can put your domain on sale for free. MAybe somebody likes it that much, that you will get an offer.

So how do parked domains get traffic if you don't promote them?

    1) Type-Ins: I have a bunch of generic domains in several languages.

    2) Expired domains: You can get nice expired domains with inbound links with a little of recherche.

Type-in domains are usually generic domains that people type into the browser instead of searching for the term. For instance, if you were looking for books, you may just say to yourself, lets find out what is at books.com. Instead of searching for the term "books". If a lot of people are interested in books, a lot of them would type in books.com and if the page is parked, it = money for the owner. That is how some people make money with parked domains.

Is anybody really making money off of domain parking? I know that when I mistype of domain name or come to a "parked" domain via other means, I usually back out or correct the spelling. I almost never click through on a link.

Mostly like this,i knew someone who buys expire domains which still gains traffic, they make pages of ADS for the domains and make $ from clickings. But i would not suggest you to do that?It is much better to start a flesh one and market it well.:D
