If you’ve been doing any kind of reading about link building, then you’ve probably seen people mentioning “nofollow” and “dofollow” links. These are very important terms to understand when you are trying to build great links back to your site. But, to the person who is new to all of this, it may be kind of confusing. I am going to help break it down for you.

Nice write up. It certainly helps to understand these concepts. However, wouldn't you rather have a nofollow backlink from CBS than a regular dofollow from any average joe website? I know I would.

Well Dofollow is wen crawler crawls your posted links like in link building or commenting if you hv selected nodofollow plugin then 2 colors come.... pink and blue... Pink color means nodofollow link and blue means do follow link so if your link is in blue color then it will be crawled by crawler and if its in pink color then it wnt........

This is what Google telling us about "No-follow"..

"Nofollow" provides a way for webmasters to tell search engines "Don't follow links on this page" or "Don't follow this specific link.
Google does not transfer PageRank or anchor text across these links. it's important to note that Yahoo and Bing search engines may handle nofollow in slightly different ways.
