DoFollow means that it is a link that will be counted by the Search engines and help you with SEO work. Alot of sites make their links no follow so that people won't spam their sites and try to get links. Basically when a SE crawls the site, if the link is doFollow then the SE will count it as a link, or vote, for your site. You can download the SEO plugin for firefox and it will highlight doFollow links for you.

All good advice above. You definitely want to confirm that sites are still dofollow. I've learned that at least 10% of sites switch back to nofollow each month so lists and search engines get out dated very quickly. Check my sig for a recent review of 3 popular free search engines.

I agree with stayfocusedtoday's comment. That's the reason why many people try to bring traffic to their sites by commenting on DoFollow blogs and forums.
