What is Disavow Links?

I have gone through certain articles about disavow links tool but, I couldn't understand the concept clearly. I just want to clear about the concept. Can anyone please explain me about the disavow links?

In simple words Google released Disavow tool for removing the spammy links automatically when your site is added.

 

Disavow links is the latest feature from Google webmaster tool, which allows you to list out links that you don't want to be crawled by the spider and submit the same. After doing that Google Crawler would not crawl the pages listed.

 

Disavow links is a way of informing Google when a particular backlink is spammy or unnatural. By using the Disavow Links tool in Google Webmaster, you are telling Google not to count that particular link against you.

This tool is mainly for those webmasters whose websites was hit by recent penguin update that was related recently against Over Optimization Or bad back links. This tool provides a way to inform Google, to not consider a link as a Back Link to their website. Because if once a back link is created, it is very difficult to remove either it is good or bad that's why Google added this great tool in Google webmasters.
