What is Directadmin ,cpanel ?

    Are Directadmin & cpanel used for linux OS ?

    Do i need to buy it for a windows server 2003/2008 edition ?

    What is its use when i buy a dedicated server?
    What do Directadmin ,cpanel do ?
    Are these called CMS for installing vbulliten ,phpbb?


    Help is really appreciated

    Yes they can be used for Linux or Windows Servers.
    They help you to manage your server, add domains, create ftp accounts, mysql databases etc.
    When you buy a dedicated server (Linux) you need to connect by ssh using Putty. Everything is done in text mode by using commands.

    I think DirectAdmin is on LINUX while cPanel is both on LINUX and Win. Both are hosting control panels - GUI interfaces which allow you to manage your web hosting - email / ftp / dns / web server - from an easy to use interface.

    There are dozens of other control panels too - some of the other popular ones are Plesk, H-sphere, Ensim, Helm... Hope this helps :)
