    Google ranking is search term depended.Google ranking depend in part who on who is linking to you and mentioning you on the web, and also depend on who on how will your competitors are doing.Page Rank is totally different from google ranking.Although pr is number which assign by google.Page Rank as nothing to do as search result.The higher the pr of one of your web pages, the more important Google considers the outbound links on that page.

    I tend not to focus on PR too much as its all down to google and at the end of the day, a high PR doesnt actually guarantee a higher ranking

    Ranking is a term which you'll probably start using more often. It refers to whether your site or a site is being ranked at all or commonly known as indexed (being in the search engines). For Ex: "Thats a great website, is it ranking yet?". This can have different meanings for different people such as ranking could mean is it in the top 10.

    Ranking can be mainly considered in terms of keywords i.e for a particular keyword whts your ranking in Google SERP's and PR is page rank of your website i.e weightage of your website in Google's Point of view.

    Ranking in Google and PR of Google is same thing but the position of SERP (Search engine result page) for your site is different.

    The ranking is position of websites in SERPs when a particular keyword is searched.

    PageRank is just like a level system for google. Max level is 10, you start from 0.
    Where ranking, is like ranking system. Top listing for this keyword in google search result pages (SERP).
    Both are equally important.
    You can increase them by doing SEO, e.g .Edu backlink. :)
