Rel=nofollow means certain pages are kept blocked from crawling search engines and do follow means pages are crawled by search engines

When it is nofollow, means that the bots do not crawl to the links or "follow" the links. When it is do follow, the spiders do crawl your links that you have on the website and is beneficial to the websites that you have posted the links up for. I hope this helps :)

The dofollow tag was a big hit a few years back. It really doesn't mean a thing. if no "nofollow" is specified, a search engine is going to crawl it anyway. dofollow was a great way to gain false interest in certain link directorys, or just sites in general.

There is no way a search engine is going to place any extra importance on a dofollow tag. Allowing users to place extra importance on a link doesn't make any sense form a search engines perspective. On the contrary i think they are trying to build ranks as genuinely as possible. A dofollow tag meaning anything will only hurt their chances.

Effectively dofollow and just specifying no rel tag is the same thing.

    My 2c.

I 100% agree with you @jeehan that bots crawl every thing and i would say the only deference between these two is that nofollow are not considered in PR .

There is a significant difference between nofollow and dofollow. Both do-follow and no-follow link will crawled by search engine bot. But no-follow link don't help to get a good page rank.
    Thanks
