I have asked a site about banner advertising on their site and they quoted me $5 CPM.

    What is CPM?

    Any ideas anyone?
    Thanks.

    It means "per 1,000 impressions".

Cost per mille (CPM), also called cost ‰ and cost per thousand (CPT), is a commonly used measurement in advertising. In Italian mille means thousand, therefore, CPM means cost per thousand.

So if I get 1 CPM, the page the ad is on would get loaded 1000 times into peoples browsers?

That about right? I was thinking cost per minute, lol.

Yup, $5 for 1000 ad views is correct.

Yep, don't spend to much until you know you are making a profit back from your investment.
