I am just curious at the bookmark rate that reported in the site's stats.
What is considered a good bookmark rate?

Is 40% good enough or is it bad?

How do you even calculate that?

awstats has a statistics entry called "estimate bookmarking rate" or something. then a figure, say, 102/456 visitors. meaning 102 out 0f 456 bookmark the site.

I thinks it depends on what your site's subject is. For sites that are news niche sites will get more bookmarks than sites that are arcade/video sites. So to determine if your particular site is doing well or not you need to compare similar sites - apples to apples, as it were...

40% percent sounds great. Almost half of your visitors bookmark your site!

    I would be happy with a 5%-10%.

I don't know how accurate those are. If someone directly typed in your site awstats could count it as a bookmark. I could be wrong.

Mine is in the 80% so I don't really believe it too much.

I would think 40% is great. My bookmark rate has been slowly increasing over the last few months on awstats so I am happy. They are not 100% accurate, but I think it is a good estimate.

I don´t know how IE works, but FireFox make a request to favicon.ico when you type a url too, not only when you add it to bookmarks.
