It is where you own a server and place it in a data center. Different companies handle things in a different manner for support, some include hardware management in the price, some require you to deal with hardware issues yourself.

Collocation is a class of hosting service. It referrers to host your own equipment (servers, routers, switches, etc) in any data center. Some data centers provide connectivity and bandwidth as a part of the service. Others require the client to connect with Internet bandwidth providers.

As others said in normal words you buy or provide them your own server and they will host the server in the data center for a fee

The main advantage of co-location is that you have an one time investment and afterwards only small monthly feeds (all that sounds great does not it), but you miss the part that most dedicated providers update their plans each year, so you get more performance for the same money and that is something you won't see on an co-located server.

But what they charge for 300$ a server we could collocate for say abt 100 hence we save some money and i dont expect a 300$ servers price to come down till 100 i guess

A.G, instead of colocation you can try to use on-demand server from clouds.
