Coaking is a stealth technology used to hide a Romulan bird of prey or a script that sees a search engine bot and delivers robot specific content and the user different content.
in someway they are the same... but doorway pages shows the same highly optimized content for both human visitors and search engines while cloaking presents a different content to a search engine and another content to the human user based on the IP addresses or the User-Agent HTTP header of whatever is requesting the page.
You can make a PHP script that checks the browser's agent. And if its a search engine spider (like GoogleBot) it should give a different page. But as far as I know search engine's don't like it. And if they find out they might penalize you.
thanks brons... i guess there ll be some scripts avaliable for this... Can any one who has experience with it tell that is it really lucrative?
And if they find out they might penalize you. I guess you didn't take notice from the bolded part above? If you did take notice of it? And still want to go ahead with this then i wish you the best of luck with the short timespan your website is going to be found by the Search Engines. If you offer services or real products for sale then your really making a big BIG mistake!! You will be penalized and there will be no lucrative business for you what so ever. Don't get involved with cloaking.
Cloaking is done through scripts that determines the user agents and remote addresses of users and directing them to a certain file/area depending if they are search engine or a human visitors. and in agreement to Brons, SEs frown upon cloaking...
You might look here: http://www.searchenginecloaker.com/ I don't really recommend cloaking, as I think the possible repercussions far out way the benefits. But here is some info on a program that will do it for you.
So we have to make change in robots.txt like that : GET: /index.html HOST: www.mysite.com USER_AGENT=Mozilla/4.71 (Windows 98;US) Opera 5.50 [en] REFERER=http://abc.com REMOTE_ADDR=123.145.125.125 Like that?
