    Hello laradatta,

Your bounce rate is a key indicator of how well your website or landing page is working for your visitors. Think of it as a vote against your website. When a visitor bounces off your website, in effect they have said “No Thanks.” Here are 5 tips to help you lower your bounce rate http://www.diamondwebsiteconversion.com/got-a-high-bounce-rate/

    Kindly,

    Shelby

And nobody knows for sure as to whether or not bounce rate is one of the over 200 factors in the algorithm. If they are tracking it, they are measuring it. Site A with a 25% bounce rate may rank higher, (all other things being equal) than a site with a 75% bounce rate in site B. Just logic.

What I think it is. Is that if someone goes to your site then presses the back button few minutes into landing in your page. I have heard that your bounce rate could have influence in your ranking but I am not sure of it yet.

The first two replies in this thread are the only two that the OP needs to read. Nothing more.

Plenty of people have explained what BR is now, so I won't bother to touch on that. As for the effect on rankings, who knows. Of course I can't say it does, but it seems probable that the number of people who click straight back to the search results does have an effect on future rankings - it's not your BR per se, but your BR from Google search traffic. If 100% of your visitors from Google click back to the search results after 2 seconds, it makes sense that Google would drop you down the rankings for that. It's a clear indication that your site is low quality, and what's more it's a factor that can't be faked by low quality sites, so it would make sense that Google would include it in the algorithm. Google still knows about visitor behavior in relation to the SERP and the landing page.

The formula used to calculate bounce rate as below:
Bounce Rate = Total Number of Visits Viewing Only One Page / Total Number of Visits

    Hello,
Bounce rate is a term used in web site traffic analysis. It essentially represents the percentage of initial visitors to a site who "bounce" away to a different site, rather than continue on to other pages within the same site.

It just means the number of your visitors who go away (bounce) to another site

Bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page. Use this metric to measure visit quality - a high bounce rate generally indicates that site entrance pages aren't relevant to your visitors.

Bounce rate happen when a viewer(s) visit your site and just leave your site. These is because your site is irrelevant to what they are searching for. Choosing the right keyword, posting your page or site in the right niche, not doing black hat techniques like cloaking would NOT results to bounce rate.

    Hi Friend,

Bounce rate shows that how much time is spend by visitor in our website if our bounce rate is less then we can know that more time is spend by visitor but when we get much bounce rate that means less time is spend by visitor.

Bounce Rate determines the visit count in which the person left your site from the entrance page. It would not affect, its much better that you try to minimize the bounce rate for your site.
