I think there is a lot of grey areas when looking at black hat vs. white hat techniques. But at the end of the day if what you are doing is against Google guidelines and there is a risk that what you are doing can negatively affect your clients rankings then you shouldn't be doing it.

Black Hat SEO refers to the use of violent SEO strategies techniques and tactics that spotlight only on search engines and not a individual audience and typically does not mind search engines rules.

All the SEO activities whether on page or off page done by breaking the Google guidelines are come under Black Hat SEO. For example Keywords stuffing in the Meta description, Meta Tags, Meta Title.

Black hat seo is technique in which we use duplicate issues like content, photos, video, hidden links, keyword stuffing doorway pages and many other. It is not good for our site because when Google starts its crawling it considered the site is full of duplicate issues and he penalized the site minimum +30 Google page ranking

Anything done to trick Google or search engines into believing your site is more popular than it really is could be considered blackhat SEO. That's the best way I know to describe blackhat SEO. When performing your job as site owner or blogger, examine your motives. Ask yourself, 'am I doing this for my reader or for Google?' If you are simply posting a blog comment or backlink to make Google think your site is well liked by others, then you are likely doing Blackhat SEO. And, though your site won't get penalized right away (and you might actually see some upward movement in Google search), eventually Google will catch on to what you're doing and all that traffic you are getting will disappear. And, if you were relying on that site for income, that will dry up too. So it's just easier to post highest quality content on your blog or site; the kind of content that naturally makes people want to link to it. That's what Google is looking for, so why not give it to them?

WHAT? Funny! All your saying is that SEO are all BLACKHAT. So you just right high quality content and wait for others to find it? Even 'IF' your readers gave you a link, most likely you will NOT get the ANCHOR TEXT you want. Honestly, you shouldn't be here in SEO because that kind of mentality would NEVER RANK A SITE.

Black Hat SEO is not helpful to the society so you shouldn't use this technique as it is not recommended by Google or other search engines as well.

"Black Hat" techniques are unethical methods that some Web site owners use to get their site listed on search engines. Here's a list of four common techniques.

Keyword stuffing: Keyword stuffing is the overuse of keywords in a piece of content. Generally, this is repeating the same keywords over and over just to achieve a higher search engine ranking.

Invisible text: Quite a few cheap sites use this tactic, which involves making keywords to be the same color as the background, so readers can't see the massive amounts of keywords, but search engine spiders can.

Doorway pages: These are pages that regular visitors cannot see, but search engine spiders can. They are used to trick the search engines so that the site gets a higher ranking. Not only do they go against the rules, but they also hurt the visitor's experience.

cloaking: It refers to the practice of presenting different content or URLs to users and search engines.
