After four years of marketing I have learned that the usefulness of SEO or PPC depends on the goal involved. Most often people who click organic results are looking for free information. Those who click PPC ads are looking to buy. If you sell real estate for example SEO is usually a waste as it will not generate a quality lead where PPC typically will. Most e-commerce sites will see a higher conversion to sale ratio using PPC as well. Hope it helps.....
Exactly, plus SEO can be 'forever' [yes google can drop you, but with effective link building etc can still generate traffic] PPC only lasts as long as the budget does.
SEO and PPC are two different skillsets, and you need both. Personally, I've found that organic traffic converts really well, and that PPC traffic brings traffic quickly but needs to be precisely targeted to convert well. There is no big mystery to getting ranked well on Google, it can be done fairly quickly and fairly painlessly, but you must know what you are doing. You can't just throw stuff up against a wall and see what sticks. There is a science to it, and it's well documented, just do your homework. Start with guys like Jerry West, he's a top-notch SEO knowledge man. Same for PPC, you can get torrents of traffic coming in, but if you don't understand the process, you will pay for useless clicks that make no money. I recommend Ghauer Chaudry for PPC. If you can't afford him, go for Amit Mehta's PPC Classroom course, the basics are free and well presented.
One of the reasons why search engines are overrated. Yeah, excellent thinking there. *rolls eyes* This is why boards are a double-edged sword. It can give you good results, but cut you at the same time.
In my opinion PPC is better to start getting some traffic and testing landing pages, conversions, etc... once you have your conversions optimized start working on SEO.
if you think about it its the other way around, people who sell buy able information and services use ppc in keywords that people are looking to buy, and they wouldn't waste time using ppc if their information was free because that would be a waste of money, and seo is for everyone
i will go for SEO, PPC can increase your traffic faster but i think it's better to have an organic traffic, it's more useful to the site that PPC, anyways its depends on the site!
SEO is more economical but needs quality time, patience and hardwork to attain good results compared to PPC.
SEO is for long term and our effort (links building) will be in the internet world very long time or maybe they gonna be there permanently. Whereas PPC, is very costly and it might provide us the opportunity to earn fast money. But this method is just for short term. Once your PPC campaign is stopped. That's mean 100% no income anymore.
I've been wondering about SEO vs. PPC, too, for a site I built that's just not performing like I'd want it to. This discussion has been very helpful. Guess it's time for some PPC...
I like both of them, for i use them current for my business! We can't say which is better, but which fits you!
I disagree with you... After 9+ years in web marketing, SEO and PPC are both good to deliver sales/profits. It depends by your niche, your keywords, your website pages. Personally I'm making big profits just by using SEO + mailing lists.
i am with SEO because it's obviously SEO is mostly better then PPC. and in PPC we have to get ready for fraud case i already aware of that PPC but i am just believed in Organic manner so i choose SEO
Which is better? Apples or oranges? It all depends on your goals, your time, your budget, and your risk tolerance. I think that using PPC to test is great if you want to get quick results. If you can generate adequate data to see that it's something you want to pursue long term, then you can transition over to organic SEO. There is nothing like spending 3 months working to get your site ranked, only to find out that it was a bit of a waste (due to other factors that don't have to do with traffic).
Really? That's a neat trick, since you are probaly not even found in a search on page one under the most typed-in keywords, and, advertising bring in thousnds on a daily basis, while organic traffic is, maybe, in the 3-digets.
I agree. Plus, using PPC is a great way to test a niche using keyword phrases and longtails to see if there is any money in it...all the while refining your website or landing sales page for maxing out on SEO traffic. Do any and all you can: PPC, text and banner exchanges, Soc. Bkmrking, article marketing, sponsor templates, contests, etc. It all adds up to more traffic.
