What is better prize?

If my site is giving prize which would you rather get:

    1) T-Shirt with my logo on it and/or Hat (or other apparel, let me know what you guys like)
    Pros:
    It helps me with marketing.
It looks like bigger prize than it is.
I may be able to get apparel cheap because I would buy in bulk.

    Cons:
    It isn't cash.

    2) $15 cash prize

    Pros:
    It is cash
People can spend on whatever they want.
    It is easy to send.

    Cons:
    No free marketing from it.
It still takes as much time to write out addresses and send items.
It doesn't look like that much money.

Let me know guys what you would prefer or give me other ideas. Giftcards? Etc.

I think that T shirt with your logo is better because your logo will advertise your site.

I think the same, but do you think people will prefer cash? Or is $15 insignificant enough that it doesn't matter?

Many people perfer cash since the gift might not be the one they are interested. $15 is fine as long as there are some cash.

By the way, i suggest you to implement both. I mean in different category. Maybe the t-shirt for the daily winner, cash for weekly winner.

T-shirt rather then cash, first off t-shirt is something solid people can hold onto, $15 isn't even worth the effort to enter for a contest, in my honest opinion.

Personally if I won a tshirt with any company logo on I would literally never wear it, and would probably just throw it away.

Wouldn't you say it depends on the design? Sometimes there are awesome branded t-shirts that make you LOL that I've seen worn around town...

I suppose so, but it would have to be something pretty damn funny. Most branded tshirts I've seen are pretty terrible, so I'm only going off my personal experience.

You could offer a choice - let each winner choose T-shirt or cash.

If I've learned anything from websites, it is that you should NEVER give people too many choices, that complicates things and people get confused.

"Keep it simple stupid" is best policy for all websites.

Wouldn't it depend upon your target market?
Old women wouldn't want the t-shirt but many youths would if it had a cool design.

Leave them to decide what they want. I think that will be the best solution. If they can get more than once prize, they will firstly get cash and maybe second time t-shirt...

For you is better T-shirts. Because of advertising your web page. And if you make good design for t-shirt that will bring more people to join your website because they want it too.

    My 30 cents ;)
