I recently used prweb and got a good amount of traffic from it - recommend but I'm new at press releases and would love to hear some other good ones too.

We usually get our clients #1 in Google Pr Web and it works out just fine.
I have even used it for myself to get traffic to an old blog. It works.
the others are just supplements and back links IMO

Before running off to spend money on press release distribution, first learn how to use them effectively. I just posted something else on this earlier tonight that you should read: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=3140188&postcount=4

If you're going about it for the right reasons and in the right ways, feel free to contact me or post here, and I'll point you to several resources I have freely available (or you can check out the ebook in my sig if you want to learn more). I run a PR firm, so it's a huge part of my daily life. So if anyone's going to steer you in the right direction for getting coverage, quality results, and to not end up screwing up your rep w/ legitimate media by becoming a press release spammer, I'll certainly try. ;)

That's not quite true. They'll rarely give you the "best" anything. The "best" results will nearly always come from manual distribution and building relationships with local and niche journalists and editors... hands down. PRweb is only the best option if:

    a) You don't have the money to hire a professional to handle manual distribution.
    b) You don't have the time to handle manual distribution on your own.
    c) You happen to be targeting almost exclusively online publications (which is a stupid move to begin with, b/c offline coverage can lead to more online coverage than you'd get from only online distribution if you know what you're doing).
    d) Your audience (meaning the people who can actually give you more direct exposure to your end target, and not members of that end target market themselves) are actually likely to go digging for stories on PRweb specifically (reality check: most major outlets, even online, don't do that).

PRweb should be a supplement in any remotely ideal distribution model... not looked at as anything close to a be all and end all. And that goes for any online distribution site. I'm glad to see that PRweb had made some much-needed changes recently, especially w/ their newer package, but they still have quite a ways to go before they're close to ideal or anything near the "best." The best at what they do? Maybe. (getting a press release uploaded to the Web). Best at getting it in front of journalists? Not by a long shot, even w/ the new package option. And if doing that isn't your primary objective, you're doing it wrong... plain and simple. You'll never get the best ROI possible that way.
