I don't know but i have all my sites hosted on hostgator for like 4 years and never had a problem with them when you update the wp version and all type of plugins you never get a error always is "successfully update" with just 1 click
I've been using Hostgator for several years and they have always been good to me for tech support and never had any issues.
the absolute best hosting services for Wordpress are WPEngine and Page.ly - no question about, these services are built specifically to host Wordpress on high-availability infrastructure architecture hosted by infrastructure security experts, FireHost. These two hosting companies offer a premium service that can't be matched by any shared hoster out there. My second option would be to host WP on a cloud node, like Storm On Demand, or a VPS, like at Linode. This would require some system administration skills, but it is more secure and performant than shared hosting. That being said, in getting started with a new site, shared hosting is all you will need. I personally like BrainHost.com for shared hosting.
I'd say most hosts with a good reputation would be fine. Hostgator is very popular and seems to run well, I've got a 'baby' account there with about 50 wordpress blogs on it and it still runs perfectly well. If you want extra speed installing W3 Total Cache, set your DNS to cloudflare and using a CDN such as rackspace or amazon to host your images (W3 total cache can set this up for you).
You can use any web hosting service, as much as they are optimized for WordPress. Actually, WordPress is itself optimized for performance. So, I don't think it's a bid deal to choose or find WordPress hosting provider. However, never ever use GoDaddy for any type of hosting. Btw, I do provide web hosting on my dedicated server @ $50 / year
From experience with numerous client sites, dreamhost seems to be a great host. Many of my clients used godaddy and it was horrible, extremely slow. Just my two cents.
Who brought up this ancient thread? The guy asked this question years ago. i am going to assume he has hosting now. lol
Hosing are not the main problem in running a website because no host is below than 98% uptime. But the main issue is that how much your site is running and how much load it takes to reload. But start is best with any shared hosting and if you feel it may not run properly then go to some vps or your dedicated. I personly use myhosting and hostgator both are fine but hostgator is more efficient but some what costly.
while at the same time throwing names is not answering the question which is the best hosting solution for wordpress which is by the way already defined by the wordpress requirements. Every package that has enough resources will be fine for running your blog if you don't have a crapload of traffic already.
We have our domain & hosting in godaddy. The server is slow & sometimes it is down. We wanted to choose between rackspace, hostgator. Please suggest a good hosting. We run a ecommerce store.
Godaddy are Good For Domain Registration. For hosting I will suggest you to go for terabyet.org they are providing hosting solutions at very low cost.
A lot of them have already been mentioned on here, hostgator, bluehost, hostnine, hostmonster are some I have used. I recently started working with http://www.FreshWebsiteHosting.com and so far it's been great. They have fast servers, great prices and support.
I used to agree with this 100% but I think recently they have been purchased and I have noticed support changing and I been getting more emails about resource usages.. They are still fast and no major issues but I have been noticing a change.
I just started with hostgator.. seems I made the right choice. Now I need to transfer my wordpress site there I think? I'm not really sure how to do it!
