yah, they both important, we all know, to get our fresh and original articles visible on search engine, we must look for backlink, more and more quality backlinks...I mean
to get your blog or site alive (good traffic+good backlinks)...there are 2 essential, content and backlink, I hope that clear enough...I'm not good enough on them, but that's the theory... heheheee...

both are important, but the most to me is definitely LINK. make your domain name as your keyword, that will make easy for you to optimize it.

Do you believe that correct spelling and grammar play any part in website optimisation? This could explain why crappy websites have 100% bounce rates no matter how much crappy content they spew out and no matter how many million links they spam a day...

Thank you for the reminder but you are wrong about websites needing time to gain search engines' trust. My penultimate website got to page 2 of Google SERs within two weeks and page 1 within four weeks. I believe this is because it is 100% original in a niche which contains mostly regurgitations and spins of articles which were cack to start with and worse once some illiterate so called webmaster had worked his or her cack magic...

Good point about keywords in domain names - well done - there are very few good points made in this thread which is almost entirely populated by remarks like "both are important" but made with incorrect spelling and grammar, for example "buth is impartant"

Both are equally good for SEO because if your content having targeted keywords so you can hyperlink those keywords with your website links.

I have various websites covering a variety of topics. I have found that some of my sites with a couple of million competitor sites have done well and done so quickly because of the quality of my content. The content of all sites is relevant but I reckon that over and above its relevancy is the fact that it is entirely original, well written, employs as few spelling and grammar mistakes as possible and rich vocabularies...

I agree with your observation that content is more important than links. I do publish links to my sites in numerous articles but these are to drive relevant traffic to my sites. The best articles in this field consciously target age, interest and geographic demographics.

I would have to agree that both content and links impact on your Google ranking. From the sites that I have created in the past, quality content is not always enough to get you a good ranking, and vice versa for links. Your website could have the best content out there, but if you're not getting any traffic, then you probably won't rank that well either.

You need both, but the links are more important to get your site ranked and to improve the rankings. You can have the greatest content in the world, but if Google never sees it and never sees any other site voting for it (linking to it) it will not think very highly of the content. If you have no competition for you keywords, then content plus a couple of link may get you ranked.

Both link posting and content are equally important for the high ranking of a website. You have changed the content of your website, I think you should also do some link building to be again on page 1.

Good quality content and links are important in SEO...they are complimentary to each other. And also content and links are required for a website to rank well in Google. If you have good content and have done your on page optimization well you can expect to rank well in yahoo and Bing, but google takes into account backlinks more. So make good inter linking also do forum posting, comment posting and article its very helpful for you.

I think Content act as a King and Link act as queen for your site so if you want to have good SERP than both things plays Important role :)

It likely isn't a very competitive niche (meaning what you've done is easy), or you're getting the new website treatment (teasing). It's very common for a new website to rank great and then to later drop like a bad habit to a position where the website really belongs. Either way, you should enjoy it and continue to build upon it.

Anyway, in answer to your question. Backlinks are most important if we're talking about ranking well, but content always plays it's roll (especially if you want the visitor to return).

    1) Backlinks & Poor Content
    2) Backlinks & Great Content (balanced keyword density and good use of keywords relating to the anchors in your backlinks)

and the winner is... Number 2! Don't forget your on-page optimization, though.
