Hi Q1. I am a business in UK and have brought .co.uk & .com domain name, which suffix is better for use for SEO purpose and generally for a UK business? .co.uk or .com domain? I brought .com as it is a more popular suffix. --- Q2. If I go with lets say the .com and when someone types the .co.uk equivalent of the domain I want them to be redirected to the .com site through either mirroring or redirect, is that a problem with seo ranking? Thanks S
Hi There, For SEO There is not effect! If you are a Business in UK you need to have a UK domain that will be better for your traffic sources.. (you can see example like - ebay.. that in UK their domain will be ebay (UK) and global will be com. So if you are providing global services, it will be better to have also a Com domain along with the UK. But again, there is no effect for the SEO. The only thing that will affect your SEO is the NAME Of the domain Good Luck!
Hi there sre no issue with .com or .co.uk for SEO results SEO want Quality and work If you have local business then local domain extension is good for your business i suggest you you can buy both for your business
Is it a keyword ? if not, both will rank well. Like two domain types there are two (actually many) versions of Google too like Google.co.uk and Google.com , both will show a little different result. If there's a competitive keyword you want to rank for, going with .com is better choice. For second question, i dont think redirection will have any seo effect. But you can always display a .com site link on your .co.uk website(or vice versa), such as > Please go to this website, or something more professional message.
That I know, I meant, is that co.uk strong enough to rank well for a competitive keyword for local niche ? Because if it's a competitive keyword, another .com domain targeting the same keyword can rank well too.
TLD makes no difference at all to SERPs or DA/PA. .com may be better as this is the most well known and often if people aren't sure they will just type the domain as .com
Not true. A ccTLD is given preferential treatment on ccTLD search engines. For example, a .co.uk will rank better on google.co.uk. The search engines do this to tailor more relevant results to searchers.
.com will also rank well in local searches as it is not country specific. So it doesn't matter which one is used.
I can't make it any more clear really. I am sorry but what you are claiming is false. A .com will rank well on google.com as that is its intended audience. You only have to spend a brief amount of time on local google search engines to prove my point.
.co.uk will rank better than .us for example, but .com ranks very well globally. Plus a lot of people in the UK will use google.com anyway - .com is almost the default for most web users.
I guess .co.uk is the best option for your business as you are from UK as we do .in because we stay in india. By these you will not need to face competition of all over the world because .com is for all over the world.
