Please, help me to know clearly that good domain name is necessary for SEO. So, what is the good domain ?
The one that makes you money Good domain is always, that is having your keywords that you want to optimize your website for, but then all the good domains are almost gone now. I still believe even if you don't have keywords in your domain still it can do wonders if it is in right person's hand and he knows what to do with it.
I agree with Oranges. I'd also like to add that it also depends on what you're doing. If you need to build a brand then you want a brandable domain name. If you are building an affiliate site to increase page rank and incoming links then the target niche keyword should be within your domain name. Also, a domain name that gets a lot of traffic is a good one if you intend on doing something with it. If I were to build a website for let's say, 'Blue Baseball Caps'. My niche is narrow and I'd want to have blue-baseball-caps within my domain. If I couldn't then the next closest thing blue-caps or baseball-caps. So if that were my focus and I wanted to purchase a domain I'd more than likely look for blue-baseball-caps.com 0r bluebaseballcaps.com or cheap-blue-baseball-caps.com or blue-baseball-caps-store.com. I like to keep my domain as short as possible and the important keyword or keyphrase first, but I also research the search trends before getting the domain. Hope that helps.
Try and get your keywords in the URL. Google gives you a boost and values that domain to start with and is a ranking factor, so then ranking that site becomes easier. Although, you can still rank your site for keywords that you do not have in your URL. Try it out. Google different keyterms and you usually see websites with the keywords in their title ranking high, but you will still see the odd website that has no keywords in their URL.
first, plan your domain name for what purpose if it for business or commercial site I prefer use dot com ext and named with your exactly keyword (if still available, if not search synonim or similar word with your keyword) if your site personal used purpose, then take your name or family name into your domain name hope you undertand with my poor english (just learn english) Regards
You asked about whether the domain name is responsible for SEO - certainly YES its an important aspect of SEO. A good domain name is something about people should remember and it should also reflects your business.
A good domain name for me is a domain name which contain main keywords in your niche, without number if possible. It should be short and by reading it, we already know what the website is about.
There are two broad definition for "Good Domain Name" 1. Easy to branding and memorize - ie. cj.com / re.com 2. Easy to do SEO with keyword in domain - ie. realestate.com
There is no such thing as an objectively good domain name. It all depends on what you want to do with it. Since the goal of most people here seems to be making money, a good domain has to above all be memorable and brandable, with good monetary potential.
Interesting question asked, I believe many users here had answered your question, IMHO, marketing your name is one of the main factor of best/good domain name. Have you notice that Google is not related to any Keyword at the start, Yahoo is common word not much a keyword too, MSN too. Know how to market your brand name and that is the best domain ever. Much of what others had said, domain that helps you in making money is another point of good domain. Most importantly, domain needs to be easy to remember, can be readable and if includes web content, it's best to stick at one area or topic. Like how Google, Yahoo, MSN is doing. They started out small and grow big.
