What is best... dog.com or dogs.com?

I own a domain I want to develop and I actually own the singular and plural. Would it be best to develop dog.com or dogs.com (just an example, not my site)?

Furthermore, would you just redirect the other one to the main one or develop content on it, as well, linking to the main one?

It would be better to take dogs. It automatically covers singular keyword (dog). So, i suggest you to take the former one.

I'd say dogs, as I think it has a high search volume than dog and therefore would be more valuable.

Well if you are looking from a keyword rich standpoint I would say dog.com would be better to go with.

Here is some keyword info from googles handy little keyword tool :)

    dog 1 - 3 $1.11 Local Monthly Searches: 68,000,000 Global Monthly Searches: 124,000,000

    dogs 1 - 3 $0.67 Local Monthly Searches: 37,200,000 Global Monthly Searches: 68,000,000

go for the plural since it already contains the singular as well. then when you do link building, use both the singular and plural in your inbound links.

Better to take dogs.com and redirect dog.com to that one. simple.... if you go with dog.com and redirect the others, will not make much difference that you should worry about. GO with you like...

number of indexed sites is not always a good indicator of how many people actually key in that search. I'd bet anything more people key in "dogs" when they want doggie info.

I'd say it depends on what kind of traffic you're trying to get. As a general rule, the singular is more suggestive of commercial intent. Whereas plural tends to be associated more with information gathering.

I want you bring update to you that I believe that Dogs.com is perfect domain name to your website cause as compare to dog.com considered plural at the view of search engine view, if we can see at the view of competitions then we can achieve good ranking on dogs.com instead of dog.com.

Depends what people are typing....why don't ytou do some keyword research and find out if the plural version of the domain is searched for more...for example.... kindsofdogs.com would be better than kindsofdog.com because people are going to type kinds of dogs more than kinds of dog....just do keyword research...

Wow great keywords!! I would definitely develop "dog.com" before "dogs.com". 3 letter keywords have a major advantage over 4 letter believe it or not.

Check Google analytics keyword tools to see which one is searched for most often and go with that.
