What is Best Advice for New Logo?

What should I ask for when having a new logo made so I can make it as large or small as I want. Do I ask for original in PNG and/or Photoshop or AI. Do I need to ask for high resolution, etc...

    Need Your Advice, thanks!

Ideally, you'd want a vector image that you can scale up to HUGE sizes - ai (Illustrator), indd (InDesign), anything vector.

If not, the next best thing is a BIG high res (300dpi+) Photoshop file.

Ask the designer for a .ai or .eps file. Tell them to make the fonts outlines.

Illustrator is the way to go. If the customer is going to get a banner made up the quality may not be good enough in photoshop to blow it up to the required size.
