When adspace is sold by CPM (cost per 1000 impressions) what is considered as an impression? A unique visit? a pageview?
let's say I want to charge advertisers on my site $1 CPM, and I get 1000 uniques per month and 10,000 page views per month how much should I charge them?
i'm confused... surely a page view is also a unique? You view the page, your also viewing the ad... Assuming i'm wrong (and i usually am! ) whats the difference between a unique and a page view??...
Unique Visit : New visitor i.e. not the same person / IP ... ( returning visitors are considered to be unique hit after some time gap )... comes to the site and see the site . Page View : Everytime a visitor see the page , its an impression . doesnt matter if its a new IP or not . Everytime the page / ad is loaded its an impression . Correct me if I am wrong
One Unique guy (John Smith) can visit 5 or 10 or 100 of your pages creating 5 or 10 or 100 pageviews. One Unique pageview (John Smith viewing your homepage for instance) can consist of a lot of Hits. Hits are the most misunderstood term online it seems. Every http request is a hit. So if your homepage has 6 images, you wil lget at least 6 hits from one pageview from one unique.
What T0PS30 said pretty muchh sums it up. As for your question, you'd get $10, as you're getting 10, 1000 page views.
right, got ya... a unique is a person and the page views are the pages the unique looked at... Now I get it... always wondered what the difference was. Thanks guys! Sorry to sllik for hijacking his thread... : /
i think you still didnt get that . read again and carefully ..lol.. Hijacking ? < you recvd infraction ?? > okei i guess sliik's ques were answered
