    - are there service like a normal webhosting company?
    - Can we host normal websites/CMS/Wordpress/Joomla etc on Amazon.com’s Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) or Simple Storage Service (S3)?

    Hi,

Amazon EC2is same like a VPS or dedicated servers. You can get your preferred OS and packages. Amazon S3 is for file storage and backup. The Advantage is that you can scale up resources if you need more anytime.

IMO its an over priced system that doesn't serve many users unless you have millions of downloads in seconds.

You can get an even better service via a true cloud system running an OS on cloud server systems.

No, they're not. AWS is a great product, and a true cloud system, unlike many who just use the term "cloud" as a marketing buzzword.

They have a lot of great services for high-availability, scalable applications. And yes, you can host normal sites like Wordpress or Joomla on them.
