Can anyone explain this to me? I am getting a bit peaved by the fact that www.theafricangreyparrot.com isn't ranking in google

I did this allinanchor:"african grey parrot"

and the site was on the second page.

    Incidently

    allinanchor:"surfing in cornwall"

brings another of my sites up second and yet that ranks badly for "surfing in cornwall" in google

These are both fairly new sites

    allinanchor:"nottingham student"

brings another of my sites (www.nottinghamstudent.co.uk) up second, owever this site does rank well for this term.

    What does it all mean?!

    Cheers
    Jamie

Your sites could be sandboxed. How old are they?

Yes, the sandbox or new site filters are causing you problems. If your domain is under a couple years old then you are going through the same thing as millions of other site owners face everyday. There are some ways around it, but they are not easy in most cases and take a lot of resources in most cases. Think links, and high powered ones comming from authoritive sites. This is one way in which can help. Also site developement based upon how your site is built and how often you add pages and content to the site. Internal linking of the site is important also. Instead of putting 1000's of pages with the same nav bar, think about putting your pages in categories and also linking them that way.

Make sure you have outgoing links to other sites of similar content that Google likes. If your keyword phrase is "Blue Cars" then type it into google, take some of the top sites and put links into them on your site with the link text you are trying to rank for. This is really important.
