What is Alexa's "Sites linking in"?

When I want to see which sites are linking to www.lunlun.com

    http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?url=www.lunlun.com

I see there are no sites that are currently linking.
However, I see that lunlun.com is mentioned on other sites, by doing a Google search:

Maybe I'm confusing some terms, but what's the difference between a site that links to you and a site that mentions your link? If I want a site to link to a subdomain of lunlun.com, it's better to link to aaa.lunlun.com or to lunlun.com/aaa?

Any details / links are appreciated. Thank you!

be clear that alexa rank is based on traffic u get on your site and if u looking for your back links than go for link:http://your domain name. in google.
you can see your back links.
still if u have any query post here with clear specification so other members can give precise answers.

I'm not asking about Alexa's ranking, but about Alexa's "Sites linking in".

If my site's name is mentioned on another's site, why it's not consider a back link?

Am I to understand that the questions I asked are not clear enough?

Go to yahoo and use this command "link:www.website.com" for a relatively good and free way of having an "accurate" view of link popularity.

Alexa's "site linking in" is also based on referer traffic, from whatever I understand. So that need not include all backlinks.

I have a subdomain linked to WikiPedia (WikiPedia has a lot of traffic). Still, that link (3 month old) does not appear in Alexa's "site linking in". Well, does not appear for me, but appears for other sites that have links on WikiPedia's page.
