I've heard this a couple of times and it sounds pretty catchy so I've even got it on my website... but what exactly is advertising 2.0? Does it just mean the next form / generation of advertising or is it just advertising + technology put together? ... or something completely different?
Hmm, never heard of it before. Seems everything is 2.0 these days. I guess it has to do with using "web 2.0" for marketing online. E.g. using Digg, Myspace, Youtube etc etc
2.0 is the new way of doing things on the internet. Usually more advanced and interactive. Cash Columns is an example of advertising 2.0.
I wouldn't say that's "advertising 2.0".. more of a fun experiment. Which reminds me - www.mmmzr.com is offering 200% return. The term "Web 2.0" came about as a way of describing our new attitude towards the internet. Sites are more about community and about sharing of resources, with a real focus on user generated and moderated content, and collaboration between complementary sites. Advertising 2.0 would be new ways of advertising like Feedvertising from Text-Link-Ads, in which ads are inserted into RSS feeds.
Oh, and Advertising 2.0 probably includes things like content exchanges too - they're becoming more and more popular.
That cracks me up. So you put something on your site but you don't have a clue what. Tadashi of mmmzr.com coined it - ask him what it means.
nup. don't think tadashi coined it. eg. Here's an advertising 2.0 blog on blogger: http://advertising2.blogspot.com/ yep. I put it in my site cos it's a buzz word. To me it means an integration between new internet technology and advertising, and something clever. However, I was interested to see what it meant for other people and whether there was an official definition for it.
Has anyone seen the new clothes 2.0? I bought a shirt with it, it has a reflective logo, and the word BETA on it, and all my friends all wear it too. It also integrates easily with my pants. Why does everything have to be 2.0 now? And why do people all use it for everything '-_-
That Cash Columns business looks ridiculous. Where does the money come from? It looks like a ponzi scheme to me, but I just can't grasp how you can get refunded twice.
Nevermind, I get it. It's like the next pixel advertising BS, but it looks like a few people have made some cash on it!
I think advertising 2.0 includes like advertising with tags, podcasts, and video (ie: Google Ads with video now). Advertising 2.0 techniques are also unique concepts to advertise, such as Alex Tew's million dollar homepage.
Whilst it is not the purpose of this thread, I will elaborate. Cash Columns is a copy of mmmzr. It's not a ponzi scheme because everything is quite transparent and there's no guarantee to get your money back or even double it. The concept is that the more advertising money you have coming in, the more you are able to pay back your initial advertisers. It's delayed payment. If you look at mmmzr, it has stopped at $4000 to $8000 because it has reached a point that is too expensive for the average webmaster to pay for. DoubleBoost is my own creation and introduces the targetted groups concept so that the cost of ads never get too expensive and more people can participate. DoubleBoost is the site I am using the term Advertising 2.0 When you think about it, I don't really make money out of DoubleBoost because I will always have to repay the advertisers so I can't use the money that is coming into my paypal account. However, it does allow for others to double their money. DoubleBoost in effect becomes the conduit for advertisers to double up and get some free promotion for their site via a linked ad button. Hopefully, what I'll get though is publicity.
I think a true definition of what "advertising 2.0" is would have to be base on what "internet 2.0" is. Wouldn't it be advertising that engages and includes the end user in the actual campaign? Like the interactive and networking dynamic of "web 2.0" Look at the HBO Entourage MySpace campaign(http://www.myspace.com/entourage Our entry in that campaign for example: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=85864736, that's what advertising 2.0 is all about.
