Anything that is natural and NOT paid for is OK with adsense. (as far as I know as I don't pay for traffic) You can however use adwords with adsense, but play it safe and don't have ads on your landing page.
SE traffic is the best converting for adsense... second comes the referral traffic Worst is social bookmarking traffic like stumble and digg etc.
Because it will eat all of you resources and you will get a lot (really a lot) of visitors in one/two days and then nothing. And people that come from Digg and such usual have something that will block the ads, or if they are showen they will not click for it for sure.
I do click the ads sometimes .. and i am still clever !! I just click the most ads that i like or i think i find something interesting ... i find great sites on Google ads and i still using it.
