These mods seem to think that infraction points given should just be turned a blind eye to by the community member who gets the infraction. But with infraction happy mods. Ten points can rack up quite quick. From my personal xp. I have gotten two points for one type of mistake. Within a 5 minute period. It seems the only thing that mods care about is giving away more infractions. Not helping the general community IMO but hendering it. But there is no real way to appeal infraction points and they even if you do in this type of thread you will if you are lucky get the un-just point taken off. But either way with making a type of appeal thread you will get a lot of RED REP, wether you lose the infraction point or not. But for those of you willing to still try to get un-just infraction points off. I am here to let you know. Forum Posting Needed... Exactly! And it helps communicate better with buyers & keep things transparent, for example if someone's order is accidentally/unintentionally delayed they'll see that in the status update & it's beneficial on the whole. Not "PM sent" or "payment received" types of posts but updates on what's completed & what's pending & to be processed next helps everyone participating in the thread, this is especially true of services.
send them a PM, i don't think he will come back to the thread to check for update everyday. also, customer service should be personal, right?
If there is no interest in what you offer, the thread will fall behind. That´s just how it is. Whatever is most popular needs to be on the forfront. That is how you keep the overall section quality.
OK OK OK, I agree with most of people in this thread that their sale is not normally seen by all people that could be interested in the sale. I have two suggestions for this: 1) Simply allow the bumps for 1 week, If you people really think its 'community' not a Army Headquarter where order of CEO is the final. We can see the how community feels in one week, if everyone is happy with it. Allow the bump permanently and let the them remain happy. If its really a 'community' we should not consider what most of the mods or owner of the board personally thinks, we should consider the needs of people for which this community was actually created. Or, why not open a sticky public Poll about this? Where only members are allowed to vote but not mods or owners. I am pretty sure, the suggestion below will simply win the Poll. 2) Allow one bump per 24 hrs, but no more. PS. Or simply tell us that this is another type of Army Headquarter
Exactly who is going to manage these rules? Shawn would have to employ the "Bump Police" and I doubt strongly he would do that. Col
If you follow first suggestion, No need to worry about abuse. Let people bump their thread, i don't think anyone is so stupid to bump his sale thread every minute, it could even hurt his sale and reputation. For second suggestion, the mods who keep on scanning threads for bumps and give infraction can easily detect two bumps within 24 hrs. Don't you think there is already a bump police out there? I think existence of this thread tells us that there is.
Unfortunately, having been on DP for 3 years I can tell you that yes ... people ARE THAT stupid. Or rather that obnoxious. That includes a few regular members over here as well.
Good idea! I like the one bump per 24 hours but i think it should be a least 2 a day. They do have time Today, 3:52 pm on each thread so the mods will have no problems moderate the daily allowed bumps. Maybe there should be a vote poll to check out the concession. Nothing is written in stone, huh?
so it went back to the basic, what is a bump and what's not a bump? Unless you can only post in your own thread twice a day, there will be post that are not bump. better yet a person can only start a sale thread once a week. And thread can not be reply and everything has to done in private (yup, that mean no auction thread, or auction will be in a separate form). and a thread will not move to second page unless it's got certain impression or time on front page. All new thread will wait in a queue. Once a thread move down to second page, a thread in queue will move to front page. just a stupid though ...
That is going to be too much extra load for the moderators. I don't think Shawn is going to agree to that. The problem is that there are many people out there who are going to abuse the system. If you are going to allow 2 bumps per thread everyday, it won't take much time to fill up DP with spam.
I think the mods here are pretty smart and know what is a real post and what is plain bullshit, so when it comes down to it I support their decisions most of the time. But yes, I believe that there should be permission to double post if you have an update on a sale. I double post anyways when I have to add something that is important. Infract me, fine. Who gives a shit. As long as I am not banned, who cares. Just do what you have to do and don't worry about anything else.
Agree. Once they have placed the order. I think sending a PM is more appropriate. Unless, they are posting in the thread asking for the status then you need to clarify in the thread.
If the sellers post doesnt fall under the 4 scenarios + the "bump" one and he genuinely has added extra packages or bonuses or changed pricing structure etc - then is that considered as a BUMP if he posts after a few days as an update right after his "own" post.
