Well, I am selling blog posts in the following thread and was posting updates to orders, status etc. in the sale thread.

Now, I get an infraction accusing me of bumping thread.
WTF...Can't I post updates to my sale?

Well, I needed original and logical answers from DP members...I am aware of the existence of wikipedia!

Also, I read the infractions thread here in this subforum, but I need specific answers for my case.

    This is what I understand
    * Posting in your own thread with the intention of keeping it among the first few results.
    * Posting in an old and irrelevant thread with the intention of increasing your post count
Both of the above practices are of no value to the community.

Same thing happened to me. I never intended to bump the thread, I was posting status updates which were relevant to the thread.

If there is changes for the original offer, you could. However, if you finished a job or still open for business (since the thread didn't get locked, it is still open), there is no need to let the world know

Aragorn gave a good generic definition of what a bump is considered to be. Often the types of posts receiving infractions for bumps are the same types of posts receiving infractions for posts that have no value or posts made to pad your post count. Some of the most typical bumps include:

    1. Thank you posts (A show of gratitude can be given via itrader, rep, or a PM.)
    2. Another order received. or One more sold. 17 left now.
    3. Four hours left. or Warning to all bidders 2 days left (Frequently you see a count down in an auction. Once time posted for auction to end further mention of ending time is unnecssary.)
    4. PM sent type posts.

You frequently see many posts that just say, "Bump." I applaud those who tell it like it is. Yes, they too will receive an infraction but they are honest in their intent. :)

Bumping really depends on the intent behind a post. People here have been long enough on forums to know the difference between a post and saying something just to say something.

Exactly, that's what i mean! This is suppose to be a learning and business type forum that should promote those who are actually trying to Buy, Sell or Trade instead of discourage or obstructing sales.

Some amount of bumping should be allowed. I have a sales thread that will be knocked onto page 3 within 1 day in Link sales. But I know that not everyone who will be interested in buying will have seen it that day and probably won't see it at all after a day or 2 of it naturally being pushed down. So do we only get a one day shot at selling something and then we're done? Buyers don't always "bump" the thread for us as they often respond via PM.

I think 3 infractions I received for the same thread is a bit excessive also.
