    What is a superdelegate?

I have never heard that term before this election and was wondering whats it all about?

I was told by a friend that follows politics closely.. " That it's just a way they can decide on the presidency if they don't like how the election is going." They being the elite that really run this country is how he explained it to me...

I don't follow politics "closely" and as an American I have the right to not vote. Which I have practiced for many years. I feel the politics in the US is a joke and choose not to be part of the punch line. I always tell people that when Mickey Mouse/ Ari Gold runs for office i will register to vote. When asked if I would rather have a fictional television character in office then the candidates that are running in a given election. I say, "thats right". However I would at least like to know what they are talking about when they say "superdelegates".

    Thanks!

"Superdelegate" is an informal term commonly used for some of the delegates to the Democratic National Convention, the presidential nominating convention of the United States Democratic Party."
