At the risk of sounding stupid (I'm still new at this), I wanted to put a question out to everyone here before e-mailing Google. The AdSense Program Policies include this: "Competitive Ads and Services We do not permit Google ads or search boxes accessing Google search services to be published on web pages that also contain what could be considered competing ads or services. If you have elected to receive contextually-targeted Google ads, this would include all other contextually-targeted ads or links on the same page as Google ads. This would also include ads throughout the site that mimic Google ads or otherwise appear to be associated with Google on your site. Although you may sell ads directly on your site, it is your responsibility to ensure these ads do not mimic Google ads. If you have elected to receive Google search services, this would include other search services on the same site and non-Google query-targeted ads. We do allow affiliate or limited-text links." I take that jumble of text to mean that I can sell, for example, banner ads on my website for a service or product that competes with something that might come up in an AdSense ad unit, so long as the banner ads do not LOOK like AdSense ads. Or does it mean that I can only "sell ads directly on my site" that are for stuff totally unrelated to my website's content? (does it mean that all ads targeted to my website's content are "contextually-targeted"?) I'm guessing that someone out here is doing this already and knows the answer. Thanks in advance for any insight you can lend.
I take this to mean that you cannot put any other contextual ads (text ads, I think) on the same page as a Google ad, and you can't put any other search box on a page with Google search. And if you have other ads on other pages on your site, they can't pretand to be Google ads.
