I have read that you should not use a link farm or free for all link sites.
    what is a link farm?

Are sites like linkpartners and linkmarket ok to use providing you check out the link partner.

I have some pr6 links and several Pr5 links I was thinking of trying one or both of these sites once G updates Pr. I do not want to link to a bunch of low pr sites I figured once my Pr is updated I will be easier to get links with sites that are the same pr or higher than me.

Sorry, but your question has been discussed so many times before in different forums. Some will not exchange links with low PR sites for whatever reason. Others say they don't mind :) Bottom line is the webmaster or site owner has the prerogative to choose which site he wants to link to.

Do you have a PR6 page that you would like to exchange links with my PR0 pages? I'll be glad to exhange links with you.

    Thanks.

It takes the same time to link to a high Pr site as it does a low Pr site time is $ I would much rather spend my link time adding high pr sites than low pr sites.

That is a naive and amateurish opinion...

If the content is good, and it will benefit the users of your site, then why not link to it.

PR still plays a role, whatever it amounts to. All else equal, you're better going after higher PR opportunities.

But then, I'd hate to pay for PR. You can't quantify it's significance, so how on earth can you price it. Given there's no timely way to determine PR for all sites anymore, I view the pay for PR a sham that some suckers are still stupid enough to participate in.

In fact - the linkage wave of the future is right here. A simple link exchange network. Funny how these things come full circle :)

Why is that a good point?

What makes you think that by linking out to a higher PR site, that the returns will be greater.

I have sites that have not been online all that long (2-3 months), and now have several PR7 links pointing to them...

    They currently show no PR.

Does that mean the site is worthless?

I stand by what I said an a previous post. That is a naive opinion.

I'm not making this point because I only have low PR sites BTW (Because I have a number of sites, some with high PR). IT is simply something I believe in.

Prove to me that you are spending you time better by linking out to high PR sites...

    Go on. Prove it.

John: You are right... The price for getting a PR8/9 link is a little over the top and I have no doubt doesn't quantify the returns. Don't get me wrong though... If I had a PR8, I'd charge the same. If I can make the money - then great. Getting that PR8 would have taken me a LONG TIME

I am not saying that I would not link to a low pr site. What I am saying if I am going out and looking for link partners I would spend my time looking for higher pr sites that are relevent.

yes ,it is very important to improve your PR,but the content of the site is very important too,if the content is good i'd rather than to get a link from them
