Yep. Though without disclosing numbers, I can safely say there was a substantial increase in CTR (tested over the course of a week).

The main reason for this, and I actually got the tip from Homer's adsense site, is that the ad colors are red/yellow and easily attract attention to the eye.

I am not suggestion that you trick the user to click the ads. It says on every ad box that they are ads supplied by google. I think that by making them blend in with your site that it looks more like they belong there and that they were not just an afterthought that you copy and pasted into your page as an afterthought to make a few bucks. I would like to think that most of the time the ads they are clicking are going to help the consumer. Why would they click unless the ad sounded like something they may be interested in. And if your content is good then they will be back when they are done shopping around.

Over half of my sales come from customers who either typed my url into the address bar or from a bookmark. I believe that this proves my point. At least for me it does.

I followed some advice found in this forum at the beginning of this month and blended in my ad colours with that of my web site and placed the ad at the top of my pages.
Last months click through pre changes 3.3%
    This month ..................post changes 4.0%
    These figures speak for themselves.

Google make it very easy to monitor any effect changes make to your click through rate.

Small monitored changes are the way to go IMHO.

ive been getting like 0.2% CTR, i just modified my page, i used to have the google adsense directly on the top in the center, now i have them on the side of the pages, (see: Cobalt and Calcium. I also changed the colour scheme so it matches the site. Hopefully the CTR increases after reading all of your posts.

    Thanks for the tips.

Having a high CPM/CTR is great, homer, but at the same time are you earning any additional income? That's the real number that you need to make go up :)

    Hi all
CTR on one of my sites is usually around 8 to 12%. Great I hear you say, but I only have around 100 impressions a day. any ideas for getting more traffic?

Not too surprising IMHO - my guess is that forums would have one of the lowest CTR's ...

There is no magic CTR. My ctr varies from %3 to as high as %10. If your ads are very targeted and viewers find them appealing your CTR will go up. You have to place your ads correctly such that people see them.

Yes that's what matters at the end of the day...I suppose. My earnings are the same...it's just kinda nice to see the higher numbers :)

That's what I suspected all along. Also my EPC on forum clicks is significantly less than my main pages.

hmmm, after applying the tips from this thread i've increased my CTR up to 1.1% from 0.2%, but the CPC is now 0.5, and used to be 0.51, so I'm actually getting more clicks, but not making as much money :\

    Here's my take on CTR.

Increasing your CTR should be your #1 priority. This is the same as when you're selling a product on the page, you want high conversion rate.

After you have hit the max conversion rate(CTR) that you can possibly have, you would want to increase the number of visitor.

This would follow the normal business model.
You want high coversion of available visitors then increase the number of visitors for maximum revenue.

After a little testing on effect of higher CTR, it appears that higher CTR trigger Google algo to put higher EPC ads that will increase your revenue.
So even if you have the same number of clicks, your revenue should increase.
