The freebie forum has gotten way out of hand. People are starting to post anything and everything in there. It was bad enough with Digg exchanges and Stumble Exchanges. However, lately people are putting threads to join forums and get paid to post and get paid for stumbles. None of these should be in the freebie section but they are allowed for days at time. Can someone please clarify what is a freebie now a days? There is one that has 700 responds that is nothing but a sales letter disguised as a free eBook. "Paypal money while you sleep." To me freebie should be just that free with no strings attached, no sign-ups, no tricks to purchase something, and no exchange. All others should get infractions.
a lot of "cheesy" "10 cent to sign up offers" have been moved and will continue to be moved to the Freebie forum to stop iTrader abuse. some users have accumalated many iTraders they paid pennies for and it devalues the iTrader system.
Does not that not just fix one problem by creating another? I agree the itrader needs to be fixed but is that at the expense of ruining the already damaged freebie forum? Maybe it is better to start banning stupid threads like those offers or start a forum for under a dollar deals with no iTrader allowed.
To me, and in the dictionary sense of the word, a freebie is an unconditional gift. Emphasis on the unconditional bit - not "do this and get a free coconut" type offers. Sadly DP has allowed that forum to deviate steeply from that definition - it now encompasses social bookmark exchanges, cheap nic-nacs and other non-descript crap unsuitable for elsewhere. Pretty sad really.
Once it starts it is like an avalanche, they let one thing go and it turns into a major problem. You are seeing less and less reputable memebrs even using that forum.
The sticky on the top by Smyrl does read: "All Digg, Stumble, Netscape, Technorati, etc Freebies and nickel and dime type threads belong here." I just noticed that section the other day, can't believe I never looked at it before then. Maybe they should add a "low budget" or "pennies and trades" section? I don't know if that would really help though.. I agree that iTrader should not be exchanged for stumbles, diggs, or anything that cost someone less than a dollar or two.
Sorry to beat a dead horse but I am still confused what should be in the freebie section. I understood after reading the sticky that nickel and dime stuff should be the freebie section. I understood that to be $.50 for a sign-up or a quick job for $.10 or stuff like this. However, I did a posting job for a guy and when I went back to the thread it was moved to freebie. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=593688 This is a $4 offer but it is $.20 per post. I also seen a signature link sale moved to the freebie. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=594255 Can we have some clarification on what belongs in the freebie section. Is anything under a certain amount of money or is it random? Posting services have always been in this forum: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=102 Has that changed? Can a moderator or administrator please clarify!
Clarification? I don't think the mods know any more because they've let that much crap get in to that place.
I am not sure about a lot of the rules anymore. I think it may be time for Shawn and/or Rob to redo the rules and make sure all the mods are on the same page.
For the time being and until (if) the freebies forum has some sub forums added anything under $5 goes in the freebies forum. New Sticky n BST - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=598675
