I've reviewed a lot more articles talking about fake page rank lately. Essentially, my question is: What is it? I'm also curious about how someone could fake one and what impact it has on SEO and searches in general.
Fake page rank is a common SEO trick you should be aware of when doing a number of things from buying an attractive domain to buying page links or adverts.
well some people do 301 redirects to a domain and then gain the PR of the domain they do thier 301 redirects too atleast thats how it works
Looks pretty broken right now. Largely SOAP errors. There is still some interesting stuff on the left but not what I'd hoped for. Hopefully they get that fixed. I'll poke it again tomorrow.
Simplely use the term to search on google, site:www.yourdomain.com please don't trust any online valid pagerank tools or even the google toolbar.
I've done this before but, doing it again, I just see a list of pages from my site. There's no indication of PR or overall popularity. Where should I be looking?
The main drawback is that your site will not actually be indexed by Google as long as you are redirecting the Googlebots to your competitors site, so it’s really only good for link selling / trading.
Try info:site.com Search info:site.com If same domain name appears in the search. The PR is not fake. but if different domain name appears then the PR is fake. and the site was redirected to that domain few days/months/ back.. I think he did a typo mistake..
there are ways to FAKE a pagerank...when you do that, pagerank tools will show the FAKE pagerank instead of real pagerank. People do that in order to sell domain or links as higher PR gets them more money.
Fake pagerank is when a website uses a 301 redirection to redirect that domain name to a higher ranked site and in return the pagerank of the the site will show whatever the rank for the other site is. just use sites like sitealizer and other pagerank checkers to see validity of the domain.
