I had a look at some of the sites linking to my site today and I saw that some of them hadn't used <a> and had just left it as http://www.gamercity.co.uk no links just the text. How then does that count as a link? What other things can count as a link? I mean is there more than one type of way to link to a page? Thanks guys!
you should already know this considering you already done an anchor text link as your signature, strange question for someone that knows what an anchor text is already!!!!!
Anything that someone else can click on that directs them to your site counts as a link, except of course links on the site itself.
Jaminers Backlink is nothing but getting a link from others site to your site. Backlink is used to increase the traffic of your website
back link is link point to your site at other site and other source, people come to your site from various website and places is called back link
I know this but does it have to be a hyperlink? Can it count as things like an image? What if it isn't a hyperlink but simply the address?
No, it actually has to be an actual link so that when someone clicks on it, it will direct them to the link. If you want to understand fully what a backlink is, read this article on ezine: Backlinks - What They Are, Why You Need Them and How to Get Them.
I am surprised that you own websites, have put up links in your signature and still ask this question. It looks like you just wanted to promote your website. I could be wrong but that's how It seems.
if when you view any post or site you should actually see (well depending on your browser settings) the cursor change/highlight the 'link' and when you click on it , it links to the relevant site/url. therefore a link.. otherwise its just free text.. quick google seach http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=what+is+a+backlink&meta=&aq=f&oq= plenty of info.
