What is 301 redirect in SEO

Here i want to share something about 301 redirect. I have written a post on 301 redirect. Please check out my post and suggest me something more on it if you have any better ideas.

There are may other ways to have a 301 redirect. For example, if you decided to change your website from .htm to .php you will need to 301 redirect all the pages.

Thanks for sharing the article, I think the article could have been a little longer with more code samples. The code sample Canonical gave is indeed a great asset in this forum.

 

URL redirection is sometimes used as a part of phishing attacks that confuse visitors about which web site they are visiting. However, because modern browsers always show the real URL in the address bar, the threat is lessened. However, redirects can also take you to sites that will otherwise attempt to attack in other ways. For example, a redirect might take a user to a site that would attempt to trick them into downloading antivirus software and ironically installing a trojan of some sort instead.
