Well, I have been studying things but my list is pretty wide and I can't make a final decision. What grabs a visitor more out of the following? Paid Directory site Free Directory site 'Everything' blog 'Make money' blog Tutorial site 'Everything' forum Paid templates Paid design services site From my point of view, there're just a too many web directories around and it's not the ideal choice. If you've got any experience with visitor/profit details (i.e. you own a site that makes part of one of the categories above) then please post details regarding profit, visitor statistics or anything else that may be useful to me.
I guess you didn't get the idea of my question.. I am interested in knowing which type of site is more of a success, not what I have to offer. I know what I going to offer already and it's 100% unique.
I think you shuld go for 3 because in this...you have a vast area to cover about ...and you can easily find good paying keywords on something and you can put in it ..that ll make you populer as well as rich
I'm forever visiting tutorial websites for whatever reason. There is already so many out there at the mo and if I can't find what i'm looking for within a small amount of time i just search for another one. I think directory sites are generally rubbish. I will occasionally use gumtree or yell.com but generally google search is always better then a directory site. + there are so many directory sites out there already, yours would have to be something special.
I'd say 6, because you can have good SEO optimization, include 1,2,3,4,5,7,8, build it up, and after all that you can have members help you build, too. #9. Paid forum posting
4. 'Make money' blog People always looking for ways to make money either online or offline. If you have a "unique" ideas that you can share, no doubt that people will come to the blog for more. - Dynashox -
All of those are saturated, and all of those are unlikely to make you loads of money. If you're serious about going into one of those categories you'll have to not only put a lot of effort into it to make it a success, but also have a unique idea that only you or a couple of other people are doing. Otherwise you'll just blend in with the crowd.
Care to elaborate on why you would choose this option? General forums are very often not successful... there are a few that did well and then the others seem to just be totally inactive or only have a few members posting. IMO it's much better to focus on a specific niche.
It's harder to get recurring targeted traffic because trying to update daily a number of sections is hard, for example if 100 people only went to your site for the graphics section, then you didn't update it for a week, I doubt many of them would still check back.
Ermm... why?! If you're already running a successful blog, why risk ruining that by turning it into a general blog. For instance, if you have a gardening blog with 500 regular posters, why make it into a general blog?
The discussion was about the forum idea, not the blog one. Been there, done that. It works but forums just require too much interest and time, yet I don't have time anymore.
