    Hi,

What information do you ask for and need to know when buying a website or domain?

At the moment all I can think of is:

    i) Revenue
    ii) Date established
    iii) Traffic levels
    iv) Page rank
    v) Alexa score
    vi) Traffic sources
    vii) Google Indexed or not
    viii) DMOS listing

Is there any other information which would be useful to know when buying a website or domain?

One suggestion is to go to http://www.stimator.com/, key in the URL and all the information that you need will be there. Pretty cool tools and is free. Thanks

    You can include backlinks too.
If using any CMS then yes also mention it, with version and paid or free. :)

Thanks for the stimator link, very interesting. Do you know if they have an API at all? It'd be interesting to link up to them so that we can run a report automatically when people add listings to the site.

I'm not 100% sure I agree with the valuation though as there a lot more to consider than pure statistics, but it's certainly an interesting tool.

Any valuation tool that doesn't disclose how it does the valuation is a gimmick. They generally overestimate the value just so you get all excited and link to them to prove to others how much your site is worth.

As far as asking questions, there is only one location on the net that covers comprehensive due diligence for buying a website (and even that is not finished). But, if you're looking to buy a site it's a must read. It also links to various tools that make the research easier.
