    Hi DP,

Myself and a friend are looking to setup a small web design company. I want to create a form/spreadsheet for clients to fill in so I can give them a quote etc and know exactly what they want.

Could any of you guys share what information you might ask for so you could build a website?

Obviously: contact information but other than that I am stuck. Don't want it to be too complicated, no more than one page of A4.

Thanks a lot my DP friends :)
    Thomas

The very first thing that I have asked for designing a website...

His works in the past i.E PORTFOLIO..

In how many days could he complete my work

How much does he charge, before starting the work (advance).

I also contacted others for whom he have worked in the past

My advice, make sure you get THEIR content early. Thats always the thing that holds me up. I can make a design in Photoshop and roll a site out quickly, but if the client doesnt give you their content then you have no idea what should go where and how to display everything.

Obviously this can be changed in a dynamic process, but ive had loads of clients who have just gone "Build me a wesbsite come back in three weeks" and you have no idea what they want.

I ask what type of websites they like/dislike, colour schemes like/dislike, what pages, types of visuals, keywords to be ranked for, design image required (eg scientific or artistic or businesslike etc). Then I - nowadays - take a deposit before designing. Then I take another deposit before coding.

The deposits focus the customer's mind BEFORE you spend your time.
