I have used Canara Bank & Axis Bank Debit card, both of them works. As someone above mentioned, you have to enable international use. This international use feature is nothing but online shopping. Canara Bank Debit card has a field called enable online shopping, in the form, when you apply for a new card / bank account.

Even Axis bank card was working for me.

Now I do not have any cards attached, I just use Entropay to make payments.

Also you can Entropay VCC to pay through Paypal, but trying to attach the Entropay VCC to the account is not suggested as your account might get flagged.

Even the Paypal Customer Support reps say that you enable Online Shopping / International Payments on your Debit Card, so that it works with Paypal.

Should I change my normal debit card to Gold debit card? I'm still using entropay but I'm tired of it and want to get rid.

It does not matter which debit card is it as long as Online Shopping / International use is enabled. I have been using a normal debit card.

There is no such thing called "enable international use". Also it is nothing to do with verified by visa. Now a days all cards are verified by visa or mastero due to security reasons and i also suggest you to enable it for better security.

I am not sure how it is not working for others.
I have successfully added ICICI business debit cards, ICICI personal debit card, Axis business cards and personal card.
ICICI is working from last 4 years and axis is working from past 15 days.

One can send money to PayPal accounts of other countries. But can't send from Indian to Indian PayPal. Better to use online banking to send payment to Indians.

    Hello,
Please excuse me if my questions below seem naive or ignorant. I am new to the concept of 'Paypal'. I searched the internet trying to figure out its working and found that this forum had many responses -- most of which seemed informative. So I decided, that it would be better to ask my questions in here.

I am a 21 year old student. I also work as a freelance writer, where I usually write feature articles. I have only written for Indian magazines till now, but recently I came across an American publication. They are willing to publish two pieces of mine (each 2000+ words), for which they are willing to pay me 100$ each. Unfortunately they are only willing to pay me through Paypal. So they told me to create an account for the same.

Most of the posts I read online regarding Paypal confused and scared me. I know this may not be a big amount for many, but for a student like me this is massive. Way lot than what I get paid from Indian publications. So I have just few questions to ask, and I hope that someone would be willing to answer them.

1]If I open an account in ICICI or AXIS (two banks mentioned in this thread) will the money reach my account? Will I be able to withdraw it with the types of debit cards mentioned in this thread?

2]I read about some export lisence number on other sites, is that needed for me?

3]If I can't withdraw the money in the Paypal account through the Bank's ATM, is there any other way to acquire that money?

That's all the questions for now. Thanks in advance.

Any Indian bank account is enough to receive money through PayPal. But you will need PAN card number too.
ICICI & HDFC bank international debit card works to send payment using PayPal. In your case you will receive the money now. So no need to worry about sending.
Also you don't need any export license as you will provide service not any physical good.

Thank a ton for that answer, Pupul. I suppose my account in Saraswat Co-op Bank is enough.

Never heard of such bank. But I think it should work.
Add your bank account to PayPal. Then you will get two small deposits in your bank within 7 days.
You will need to put those two amounts in PayPal later.
