Good content gets you good backlinks - Yes. However, for people to see your good content you need to do a few link exchanges and get some SERPs. I wouldnt be too quick to start paying for links, I havent paid for links on most of my websites and have gained top search results. Ask a webmaster kindly to link exchange, if they like your website most will. If not, try another. This ends up with a mix of PR backlinks. Hope this helps, Dean
It is literally the only way. The only thing factored into the PageRank equation is backlinks. -Michael
One of my sites has pr0 (fairly new, friskyvids.com) and im not sure if i care. I have quality traffic coming in, and therefor i can send out quality traffic, thats more important to me, or at least i hope
I have always been worried about PR. But I guess it doesn't matter? I figured the better the more guests you would get from SEs
No, that's complete bs. It is 100% links. Pages that are completely blocked by robots.txt and not indexed can receive PageRank, but the best written pages in the world will get none without links. It's a mathematical equation that has to do with how many links are pointing to a page recursively, and absolutely nothing else. It is a published and well documented equation, that has been discussed many times and in many places. It is NOT voodoo, black magic, rocket science, or a matter of public opinion. It is exactly what it is, and nothing else. And if you don't know wtf you are talking about when someone asks a question like this, then you should learn to just not answer. To post an answer and pretend you know how crap like this works when in fact you have no clue whatsoever, when someone is just trying to learn something when they ask, is rude as all hell. -Michael
Ive got PR2/3 based just on content I think for anything higher than that you need backlinks as everyone else has already mentioned
Backlinks (high backlinks) but PR is just a number theres no sense to strugle with it concentrate on getting Rankings
If you have good content, you will get quality visitors and quality backlinks, mainly links from .gov and .edu will affect your page rank. So quality backlinks is the important part in PR but don't ignore content
Content literally has nothing to do with PR in my opinion, yeah you have the rare occasions where content gets other sites to notice you, but I did an experiment last PR update, I have 8 blogs, all with 2 posts each, I did one simple thing and each got a PR2 on the update, so Pr is not only alot of links but HIGH PR links. I'm trying to do the same thing this update and see if I can pull off a PR6 on all of them to show everyone that you can get a PR6 with 2 posts so content means nothing
PR has really lost importance.........and I don't like it anymore. Anyways, the answer to the question u asked is Backlinks. Unique Content matters in case of SERPs not in PR
Phew! I think I caused this strong criticism. You'll hate me (person quoted) but as I said and seconded by the person above (somewhere) you don't need backlinks to get PR1 or PR2. This is for certain because it is achieved by some with no - nil - zero - zilch backlinks.
No, that is a complete misconception of how it works. You not being able to see the backlinks has nothing whatsoever to do with what Google sees. PageRank is about links, period. Like I said, that isn't a guess, that is a thorough understanding of how it works. -Michael
I tried this with 5 of my domains , I gave them a pr5 link from one of my sites and they are all pr4 now.
If you get back links from quality sites (Instead of having a low PR) you will get a good ranking .. Quality sites will influence too much in getting a good PR
